When we cooawlled pastry phenom Lisa Simendinger to tooawlk, we immediately knew we were dealing with a New York transplant.
Luckily, her desserts need no translation. Her confection company, Brass Knuckle Bon Bons, starts selling online today.
Pink-haired Simendinger riffs on the classics, crafting sweets that will appeal to both the foodie and the kid in you. (Pastry school and stints with Angel Food Bakery and Katherine Anne Confections helped hone her skills.)
On her menu: Callebaut chocolate potato chip clusters, Cereal Killers (Golden Grahams and Cocoa Krispies coated in creamy ganache, cleverly molded onto a plastic spoon), fudge (root beer, peanut butter marshmallow), and crunchy homemade chocolate malt and toasted almond balls.
She calls them highbrow ingredients with lowbrow inspiration. We call them delicious.
Available online at etsy.com.
