Trekking through snowbanks for two weeks didn’t just make you sour — it made you sore, too.
Get out of the cold and into the spa at the Elysian for a restorative lomilomi massage. Through March, the just-launched Spa Journey menu will take you to the Pacific Islands — so get the treatment while it’s hot.
Traditionally used to join the upper and lower bodies (heaven and earth, respectively), lomilomi is closely related to dance due to its fluid, continuous movements.
Candles and gentle Hawaiian music set the scene. After a quiet prayer to connect with their practice, technicians use hands, elbows, and forearms to apply pressure along the length of your body. Sweetly scented, unrefined coconut oil makes your skin suppler than ever (and the smell? Amazing.). The result is gentle yet deep — and totally detoxifying.
As for that blizzard? Snow biggie.
