When it comes to dining out, you’re a fish out of water. Get your sea legs at Fish Bar, opening today.
Visits to New England crab shacks and New Orleans oyster bars inspired owners Michael Kornick (MK, DMK Burger Bar) and David Morton (Morton’s) to paint their tiny restaurant ocean blue and nail up a sign announcing, “Established 2011. 973 miles from the sea.”
Despite that distance, they serve only sustainable catch (wild-caught Gulf shrimp, Rhode Island squid, Maryland crabs) and donate a portion of proceeds to like-minded fishing organizations.
Tie on your bib and slurp crab andouille gumbo, chowder, and cream-free lobster bisque. Healthy, raw eats (mackerel ceviche, salmon carpaccio) sweetly served in Ball jars balance out Sriracha-smothered fried rock shrimp and plump, belly clams.
Take the middle road with octopus fresh off the plancha; wash down lobster rolls and oyster po’boys with sweet tea and white sangria.
Get there quick. With just 30 seats, it’ll be packed to the gills.
