You used to wonder what to do with a Saturday afternoon. Now Mom is your name and multitasking is your game.
Here to help you with the whole two birds, one stone thing is Pickle’s Playroom, Lincoln Square’s just-opened fun zone that’s both an indoor play space and kiddie hair salon. Romp around in a large, sun-dappled room that caters to active tots (check the tube slide and suspended bridge) and those just getting their footing (look for mats and padded steps). The pretend kitchen, train table, books, and puzzles busy nearly everyone.
Haircuts happen in a side room where kids sit in a mini car or airplane and watch movies while their stylists go to work. Parents are welcome to get trims, too.
If that’s not enough, there’s a cafe where you can sip coffee and leisurely browse the interweb.
So choosing between getting things done and doing nothing at all won’t leave you in a pickle.
Pickle’s Playroom, 2315 West Lawrence Avenue, at Western Avenue (773-293-7747 or picklesplayroom.com). Open play, $12 per child; siblings, $9. Haircuts, $20 (includes 30 minutes open play).
