Granola on a Mission to Crunch Hunger

Impact Foods Granola Helps Hungry Kids

impact foods granola!

Coconut, maple syrup, and a small Central America beach town. Smells like a recipe for a laid-back summer.

Or Impact Foods.

Two recent SMU grads own the company, which makes gourmet granola with organic rolled oats, olive oil, sunflower seeds, sea salt, toasted coconut, and, yes, maple syrup. It’s absolutely delicious. But better than that, for every bag sold, Impact Foods feeds a hungry child three meals for one day.

This week, owners Benjamin Hurt and Blaine Iler are in Roatán, a coastal Honduras city where two-thirds of children live in poverty. The Dallas philanthropists will serve more than 10,000 meals during their stay. So far, their business has fed more than 1,000 malnourished kids.

You can support the cause for as little as $7, which gets you a 12-ounce bag of granola or three snack-size packs.

Crunch those numbers.

Available at EatZi’s, 3403 Oak Lawn Avenue (214-526-1515); 5600 West Lovers Lane, suite 136 (214-358-3100 or eatzis.com); online at impactfoods.com, $7 and up.
