What: Help Big D become Guinness World Record champ for the most pancakes served in eight hours by hitting the White Rock Marathon and getting four of the breakfast treats for $5 (suggested donation) at the finish line.

What: McKinney Avenue Contemporary hosts a holiday fundraiser with original ornaments made by local artists and patrons as well as live music by SMU’s Meadows World Music Ensemble, food, sips, and a bake sale.
Why: Funds raised go to 2012’s artistic and educational programming.

North Star Carriage Ride
What: Ride a horse-drawn carriage with up to six pals throughout Highland Park to view the city’s most festive holiday decor and lights.
Why: BYOB to enjoy during the trot.

The Dallas Flea
What: Put on your flea market cap for vintage, handmade, and gourmet loot (we’re eyeing fresh wreaths, repurposed antique furniture, and original screen-printed holiday cards) from 75-plus Texas artisans.
Why: Take care of shopping-induced hunger with Off the Bone Barbeque or Ruthie’s Rolling Cafe.
