Dallas has talent (cue Disney Channel credits, Idol contestants, and Football Hall of Fame).
The Sparrow Project, Change the World, a new album showcasing fifteen local musicians, is a more interesting place to look.
Abbie Chesney, an artist who makes jewelry from guitar strings to support music-focused charities, helms the venture. Along with producer Salim Nourallah (Old 97’s, Rhett Miller), she compiled existing recordings by Chris Holt, John Lefler, Dave Little, Smile Smile, and others. Track seven, “When You’re Younger,” is by the late Carter Albrecht.
The mission of the album, which dropped yesterday and costs only a buck, is to shine light on homegrown talent. Proceeds go toward future Sparrow Project undertakings and the Carter Albrecht Music Foundation in support of area musicians.
In other words, this isn’t the last act.
