Designer Kira Plastinina shares her favorite fall looks

The name Kira Plastinina may be new to Dallas, but the Russian-born SMU senior began designing fast fashion collections at 14, and by year’s end will have launched 300 stores across the globe. She opened the flagship store for her high-end collection, Lublu Kira Plastinina, in Preston Center last month.

We caught up with the 21-year-old designer to get her take on fall trends and her favorite stores in Big D at which to snag them.

For fall 2013, shoppers will see a focus on jewel tones, especially emerald green and crimson, along with leather accents and playful floral patterns. Menswear-inspired styling is making its appearance as well, with accents of gray from shoes to bags to statement necklaces. And who doesn’t love a structured bag! My favorite trend for fall embraces love. Heart embellishments are everywhere, and Lublu in Russian means I love.

And I’ve fallen in love with Dallas. The people are so genuine and lovely — and so stylish. They take their fashion as seriously as people in NYC and Paris. My picks for fall provide any girl with an effortlessly chic look that can be worn during the day and out at night.

kira plastinina!

Forty Five Ten
I found the most gorgeous scaled-down bags by Victoria Beckham here, which are so on-trend for the season. I love this trend because it allows you to get really creative, whether you go architectural, colorful, or whimsical.

The Shak at Stanley Korshak
I like going to The Shak for the open, airy, casual setting. Booties and pointed toes are all the rage, and they make legs look long and lean. Pair Rag & Bone Newbury booties with leather pants and a knit for an effortless running-around-town outfit, or with a fall floral-print dress to create the perfect contrast.

TenOverSix brings a little West Coast flair to Dallas. The downtown location and merchandise embrace the Los Angeles culture. I love pieces like Karen Walker’s sunglasses that don’t take fashion too seriously. You have to have fun with fashion.

I love the cashmere here. The Instarsia cashmere boat neck sweater is a fall staple. Even in Texas, you can wear Vince knits all year round.

Grange Hall
The store is known for contemporary pieces, and this is the best bet for rocker-chic styles for fall. The statement necklaces by Noor Fares give an edge even to T-shirts and jeans.

The girls at V.O.D. are so stylish and in the know. The Fall Floral dress by Suno represents a huge trend for fall. I love the femininity.

Neiman Marcus
This is a Dallas institution! I love all of Philip Lim’s fall blazers, especially his tuxedo blazer. It presents the menswear look so well, and it’s always so chic.

Lublu Kira Plastinina
I’m so thrilled with how my flagship store turned out. I love it. As for my designs, my floral, midlength, high-waist skirt is such a ladylike style and print, but the way it’s cut is still fresh and modern with an incredible fit and weight.

It’s fall, head over heels.
