Let It Snow

True, summer in Texas is hotter than Satan’s basement rec room.

But desperate times don’t justify desperate measures.

Like secretly memorizing the gate code to your neighbor’s private pool. (Who, you?) Or stealing your little brother’s season pass to Hurricane Harbor. (Yes, you.)

A better (more legal) way to cool down: MC Snow Cones. The tiny, cash-only stand serves cups of thinly shaved ice soaked in traditional cherry, bubble gum, and lime flavors; exotic amaretto, wedding cake, and tiger’s blood; or the Mexican-inspired chamoyada, mangonada, and tamarindo. Try a Knock Out — a snow cone with Blue Bell ice cream on the bottom and top — for a much needed body temperature and attitude adjustment.

Add extra juice or cream to your snow cone and retire to a shady corner. You’ll never be tempted to crawl into your sister’s refrigerator again. Which is definitely a good thing.

That plan didn’t have a snowball’s chance in hell.
