Remember that shapeless dress-thingy you tried to pass off as your final project in home ec?
You called it “avant-garde apron.” Your teach called it “a mess.”
If only you’d had the designers behind Ingwa Melero tutoring you. Their genius clothing line takes ’30s-style glamour (luxurious fabrics and silhouettes) and adds a contemporary kick (it’s tighter, shorter, sexier). They make dresses, skirts, pants, and jackets, but we’re partial to the bodices — specifically the strapless number with a huge Grecian-inspired, gold-leather medallion sewn into the cleavage.
Almost every piece in the collection incorporates unusual accents like elaborate broaches or knitted doilies, making it hard to believe they were created with a mere sewing machine.
In other words, don’t try this at home.
Available at Gregory’s, 13350 Dallas Parkway, in the Galleria (972-490-1285). To see styles, go to ingwamelero.com.
