Hear that? It’s the tune of 2006. Before we dive in, a shout-out to our favorites from 2005. Feel free to hum along.

Used to be, a woman’s place was in the home.
And for some of us, it still is. Of course, now you’re simultaneously working from it, raising kids in it, and remodeling it (with your own power drill, thanks). Which means that household chores might not be high on your priority list.
Meet The Washouse, a wash-and-fold laundry service available six days a week. Just drop off your load, return to the homestead (or high-rise, ranch, office, whatever), and head back a few hours later to pick it up. Your wash comes out perfectly clean, smelling fragrant, and wrapped neatly in plastic. If there’s ironing to be done, they’ll press your pants and shirts for a few more dollars.
The service is perfect for the woman who has gone sour on the antiquated notion of domestic bliss.
But still wants to make her home sweet home a little bit sweeter.
The Washouse, 4509 Greenville Avenue, at Yale Street (214-265-1440).
