My Bonnie Lies over the Ocean

Tea Blender Bonnie Itzig

It’s easy enough to bash Anglophiles, what with their phony accents and tea-sipping ways.

Then again, you may find yourself joining their ranks when you taste Bonnie Itzig’s homemade brews. Already known in local food circles as the coffee and tea supplier for many of Dallas’s best restaurants, Itzig also makes small batches of custom-blends.

Just tell her what you like (fruity, sweet, sake-flavored, whatever), and she’ll come up with a recipe, make it by hand, and prepare it for pick up. Ask for a green tea, and Itzig might add some jasmine, chun mee, and mango. Request an organic variety, and she could invent a chamomile with hibiscus, raspberry, and cinnamon.

Pretty soon, you won’t let a single teatime pass you by without indulging. Oh, and don’t be embarrassed about your change of heart regarding those Brits.

Joining them is always more fun than beating them.
