That’s soooo not cool.
Kids have no more teachers. Not to mention no more books. And yet they get “rewarded” with a trip to band camp. C’mon. No one’s that excited to play the tuba for three months.
Maybe it’s time to send the burnt-out mini Mozarts to Camp Cake, Tart Bakery’s new four-day summer pastry camp that caters to children, tweens, and teens ages 7 to 14 who want to learn the sweet side of cooking. Each day, campers spend four hours learning to bake treats (cookies, desserts, tarts, pies, and cakes), properly use kitchen equipment, and read simple recipes.
An added bonus? Everyone goes home with a gift bag filled with a chef’s hat, souvenir tee, recipe book, and spatula. You’ll be the hero of every other tuba-playing kid on the block. And, of course, the envy of his or her instrument-lugging mom.
So much for no more dirty looks.
