Lady Luck’s a fickle mistress.
Which explains why she seldom shows you any love. And why all hell breaks loose whenever you walk under a ladder, open an umbrella indoors, or come face to face with the number thirteen.
But you’ll count your blessings at Trece — in spite of the ominous name (it’s Spanish for “thirteen”). The new spot, opening today in Knox-Henderson, aims to wean patrons off typical Tex-Mex by offering authentic Mexican flavors: salmon lightly doused with achiote-papaya sauce, for instance, and mesquite-grilled steak in a coffee glaze.
If you’re not in the mood to eat, grab a seat in the lounge. Bartenders riding rolling ladders grab tequila bottles from two six-feet-tall cabinets and pour more than 120 varieties into neat, little shots. Or you can choose from a special on-tap selection that’s always cooled to a chilly five degrees.
Of course, there’s no guarantee good fortune’s feminine wiles will be tamed after just one visit. But what can you do?
After all, girls will be girls.
Trece, 4513 Travis Street, Knox-Henderson (214-780-1900).
