Walk the Line

Shinsei Opens

There’s a fine line between love and hate.

Especially when it comes to your relationships. One day, it’s the bee’s knees. The next, you’re ready to buzz off.

You could learn a thing about togetherness from Tracy Rathbun and Lynae Fearing, the duo behind Shinsei. Their recently opened University Park restaurant is a sushi bar and Pan-Asian dining room downstairs with a Zen-like lounge upstairs.

Personal touches (such as their kids’ photos) are everywhere, giving the place a homey feel. The food is mighty comforting, too. We recommend coconut chicken poppers with yellow curry and chargrilled salmon with Mongolian pineapple barbecue sauce.

Yes, you’re right: The ladies could have asked their celebrity chef husbands (Kent Rathbun and Dean Fearing) to help out in the kitchen. But they knew better than to mix business with pleasure.

After all, you have to draw the line somewhere.

Shinsei, 7713 Inwood Road, University Park (214-352-0005).
