Stick with It

With names like bangers and mash, Welsh rabbit, and, er, spotted dick, it’s no wonder we think foods from Great Britain are one bloody mess.

Sticky Toffee Pudding is here to change all that. Made by a British expat now living in Austin, the company’s traditional puddings (which are no relation to the American version) are actually sponge cakes soaked in toffee sauce.

The namesake dessert is made from dates, espresso, and vanilla with a buttery coating. But you shouldn’t miss the delicious baby-cake pudding with a fudge exterior and melted chocolate center, or the moist lemon version on top of a lemon curd sauce.

Served warm or even at room temperature, the confections are rich, handmade treats destined to make our American mouths into very loyal subjects.

It won’t be the first time we’ve been ruled by Britannia, but it will be the happiest.
