Sweetie Pies

Mindy Lu’s Pies

What gives, Little Jack Horner? Just because you’re sitting in a corner doesn’t give you the right to ruin perfectly good pastry.

But we think you probably would have minded your manners more if you’d been eating Mindy Lu’s Pies.

The tiny Fort Worth-based company’s been baking its small moon-shaped delights — in flavors like apple, chocolate, and pineapple — for 35-plus years. The owners say the secret to the fold-over confection’s deliciousness is in the flaky dough. But that’s all they’re saying. To figure out the classified recipe, we suggest tasting several of the little wonders fresh from the oven.

In the end, it may not be possible to express just how much you love these perfect pies.

But you can always start by giving it the thumbs up.

Available at The Pie Company, 721 East Loop 820, Fort Worth (817-457-7437 or mindylupies.com).
