Game On

Video Games Live

gamers unite!

Dude. It’s on like Donkey Kong.

Seriously. How, you ask? The Dallas Symphony Orchestra’s presenting the Video Games Live concert at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center. For only two nights, talented musicians are performing songs inspired by — you guessed it — video games.

Along with a choir, video footage, and even an interactive segment (where audience members are randomly picked to go on stage and compete with one another), the event aims to bring two worlds together (meaning your Halo addiction and your culturally literate S.O.).

Tunes include homages to games like Super Mario Bros., Final Fantasy, and, of course, Donkey Kong. Which means you can experience all kinds of joy (er, stick), and your long-suffering mate can bond with other poor souls who are equally understanding.

See? Everybody wins.

Performances are Wednesday and Thursday, 7:30 p.m., at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center, 2301 Flora Street, Downtown (214-692-0203 or dallassymphony.com).
