First comes an interview to figure out what you’d like to commemorate (anniversary, graduation, new baby) or decorate (kid’s room, new house, vacation rental). Drawing inspiration from artists like Piet Mondrian, Paul Klee, and Sean Scully, Lidji creates a small model of the quilt for you to approve.

Of course, you’ll have to wait about six months for your full-size masterpiece to be completed. But at least you don’t have to spend the whole day making a buttonhole wheel stitch.
