Okay, people. Is it Coke, soda, or pop?
In these parts, there’s no need to engage in this age-old debate. We Texans know you don’t drink pop — you wear it.
To wit: the creations of Melissa Borrell. The Houston-based jewelry designer etches overlapping circles and rectangles out of stainless steel to create lovely lace-like patterns. But instead of offering ready-to-wear accessories, she leaves the earrings attached to the original metal and lets you feel a little DIY.
Simply choose a colored square (silver, black, red, turquoise, or 18-karat gold plated) and wait for the right occasion. Then pop the design out and attach it to the ear hooks.
Friends will immediately turn the topic to how cute they look.
No matter what you call them.
Available at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, 3200 Darnell Street, Fort Worth (817-738-9215). To see styles, go to melissaborrell.com.
