Depends. In the case of monsters, not really. But where jewelry designers are concerned? Definitely.

Just look at Nicole Khristine jewelry, created by codesigners and friends Khris Williams and Nikki DeBartolo. When they decided to merge their talents (DeBartolo’s creative flair, Williams’s eye for vintage finds), they came up with a collection of whimsical, wearable, unexpected pieces.

Their newest collection has six lines (Angel, Rock Star, Faith, Signature, Tribal, and Love) that combine eclectic metals, stones, and diamonds. Our favorites include 18-karat gold wing-shaped earrings, a yellow-and-rose gold star necklace with a skull in the center, and a heart ring studded with white diamonds.

Now that’s a pair worth mentioning.
