Fireside Pies Opens on Inwood

Thirty minutes or less may work at home (in desperation) but not at Fireside Pies.

The line at the legendary pizza joint on Henderson Avenue suggests you’ll wait at least a half hour to enjoy any wood-fired, hand-stretched pie.

Maybe not: The newest location (formerly the short-lived Urban Bistro and the much-missed George) opens early — at 4:30 on Saturday and Sunday — so you can start indulging that much sooner.

The intimate pizza joint flickers with the same energy and warmth as the original: It’s done up in similar warm tones and natural elements like cedar and copper, so you’ll feel right at home.

The handcrafted pie-making rules will gloriously continue, so go ahead and start planning your next pie party in the twenty-seat private dining room. It’s not open yet, but definitely stay tuned.
