Elaine Turner Shoes

Sure, there are some things — JFK’s assassination, the polygamy trail, Dr. Phil — that we wish weren’t associated with Texas. But all in all, there are far more reasons for serious state pride: corny dogs, Blue Bell, Tex-Mex, the Cowboys.
And let’s not forget Houston-based accessories designer Elaine Turner. This week, she debuts her first-ever shoe collection.
The summery sandals, wedges, flip-flops, and ballet flats mix and match with her long-standing handbags. Just like the breezy, straw-shoulder totes and clutches, Turner’s shoes have a laid-back, uptown sense of style.
They come in a variety of colors — bubblegum, baby blue, metallic gold — and have simple embellishments like her signature bamboo accoutrement.
Best of all, Dallasites get first dibs on the spring/summer looks: They’re available exclusively at Tootsies in Preston Center until they hit major retailers this fall. Which ought to do a thing or two for Texas’s image.
And should more than make up for the whole Jessica Simpson thing.
Available at Tootsies, 8300 Preston Road (214-696-9993 or tootsies.com).
