Mother, May I?

Mother’s Day Shopping at The Gypsy Wagon

moms love it!

Here’s a conundrum: On a holiday invented by cheesy greeting card and flower companies, it’s strangely unacceptable to buy the celebrated party (Mom) a cheesy greeting card and flowers.

Why? Because she said so.

This year, head over to The Gypsy Wagon, a gift store with something unique and decidedly ungeneric for every mom.

The freestanding ’40s Knox Henderson home, which used to house a tattoo parlor, is chockful of groovy gift, decor, and fashion frills, like patchwork pillows made from vintage saris, breezy embroidered sundresses, and hammered sterling silver jewelry.

Owner Carley Seale seeks out hard-to-find items with a handmade vibe from antique road shows to New York markets. The result is a hippie chic mix that includes stationery, candles, barware, 19th-century farm furniture, and contemporary fashion from Cake Couture and Hazel. So no matter what Mom’s style, she’ll end up with something that suits her.

And you’ll stay out of trouble.
