Blast from the Past

With vintage clothes, there’s a fine line between classic and kitschy.

You’d know. Remember when your entire office belted out “Stayin’ Alive” in homage to your wide-collar polyester blouse and white bell-bottoms?

Well, the folks at Gratitude Vintage Clothing know the difference, too.

Obviously: The Oak Lawn shop has been in business for seventeen years. But after almost two decades in the same tiny space, it recently relocated to accommodate its growing trove of throwback threads.

The new spot is like your chic grandma’s closet — only bigger and better organized. It’s filled floor to ceiling with clothing, shoes, hats, and handbags from the late 1800s to the early ’80s. There’s even a menswear section rumored to be the biggest in the South.

It’s the perfect place to find your next retro-chic shift, a classic accessory, or even a kick-ass Halloween costume.

Though it sounds like you’ve got that last one covered.
