Abacus Reopens

You’ve been experiencing some serious lobster shooter withdrawals lately. Ever since Abacus shut down for renovations last month, Friday nights just haven’t been as satisfying.
Good news: Your favorite five-star restaurant is back in business.
Today owner and executive chef (and let’s not forget Iron Chef America winner) Kent Rathbun reopens his contemporary global cuisine hotspot. Not only did he overhaul the eatery’s interior (think subtle Asian chic), but the menu got a big makeover, too.
No worries, the shooters are still there. But now more seasonal fare — cauliflower clam chowder, chipotle-glazed bacon and scrambled duck eggs with truffle — has been added to the mix.
But really, the most-improved award goes to the bar. The former nook now wraps into the dining room and is chockful of sofas to entice the nightlife — not just nightcap — crowd.
Like it really matters. You’d drink The Big Daddy martinis in the gutter they’re so good.
Abacus, 4511 McKinney Avenue (214-559-3111 or kentrathbun.com).
