Southern Comfort

Screen Door Opens

the door is open!

Doctor: It appears the patient has slipped into a comfort-food coma.

Loved Ones (gasping): Oh, no! We never should have taken her to Screen Door!

Dr.: Alas, I fear that may have been the cause. The restaurant, which recently debuted at One Arts Plaza, serves upscale Southern cooking with a modern twist for lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch — and has been known to induce catatonia in overindulgers.

LO: But how could we resist? The menu mixes traditional low-country fare — shrimp and grits, fried chicken and waffles — with updated classics like deconstructed lobster potpie and iron-seared Chilean sea bass.

Dr.: Well, there is a light afternoon tea option.

LO: Will she ever recover?

Dr.: Oh, yes. Probably in time for dinner.
