Nameplates. Horseshoes. Fake van Cleef and Arpels?! Looks like someone had a head-on collision with the bling bandwagon. Recover with help from local actor and buyer Donald Fowler, who just launched a line of affordable, one-of-a-kind necklaces. After he created some of the looks for friends this fall, buzz grew so big that he decided to turn the hobby into a part-time gig. This month, the Fellini Collection (named after Italian film director Federico Fellini) finally makes its retail debut. For the handmade designs, Fowler takes a skinny strand of leather and randomly attaches trinkets — keys, rosary beads, crucifixes — scored at secondhand shops, vintage stores, and even the Canton flea markets. The sweet but bold results are completely original, so you’ll be back in the driver’s seat when it comes to trends. Instead of a crash-test dummy. Available at The Shak at Stanley Korshak, 500 Crescent Court, between Maple Avenue and Cedar Springs Road (214-871-3641 or theshak.com).
