Feed the Need Elementary School Program

With your New Year’s resolutions in gear, you’re back on the diet. When you think about splurging, remember those who don’t have the choice — especially the kiddos.

The only grub many little ones get is the subsidized meals that schools provide. Which is why Hunger Busters started Feed the Need, a grassroots movement that helps famished elementary school children.

Tuesday through Friday, FTN provides a boxed meal (sandwich, banana, fruit cup, and cookie) to 250 students at James Bowie Elementary to take home for dinner. This year, the program plans to add six more DISD schools to its tab, but it’s in need of funds, supplies, and manpower — making it a prime candidate for your second resolution.

Putting your money where your mouth is.
