Jarhead

Here’s a jarring thought: shoving a cupcake into a jar.

But you’d be wrong. They’re actually incredibly delicious. Just head to Rush Patisserie and give it a try.

The pastry experts are whipping up their unique cupcakes — red velvet, tres leches, strawberries and cream, German chocolate, lemon coconut — baked inside glass jars topped with icing, a brass lid, and spoon. Dubbed le petit bouche (which roughly translates to “a little bite”), the treats stay fresh in the fridge for a week or can be frozen to devour down the road.

The desserts are excellent straight from the jar at room temperature. Even better, fifteen seconds in the microwave (sans top, of course) result in warm, gooey spoonfuls of heaven.

If that doesn’t blow your lid off, nothing will.
