You’ve done ’em all, but your heart belongs to cheddar.
Add a little piggy and you’ve got one hot dish.
Nice ’n’ cheesy.
Crispy Fried Prosciutto-Wrapped Cheddar Cheese
Serves eight
Ingredients
2 c. flour
¼ tsp. cayenne pepper
¼ tsp. onion powder
¼ tsp. garlic powder
Black pepper
Kosher salt
2 eggs
1 c. buttermilk
1 can beer (your favorite is fine)
1 lb. smoked or aged cheddar
4 slices prosciutto, sliced thin and cut in half
1 qt. vegetable oil
1. Combine flour, cayenne, and onion and garlic powders with a heavy pinch of pepper and salt.
2. In a separate bowl, combine eggs and buttermilk with half the beer (enjoy the other half, honey).
3. Slice cheese into eight pieces.
4. Wrap prosciutto around cheese.
5. Heat oil in a pot.
6. Dip wrapped cheese in buttermilk mixture, then flour mixture. Repeat.
7. Fry breaded cheese until golden brown.
8. Serve warm. A side of sauce makes ’em extra delish (we like BBQ).
Eat your heart out.
