Cross Canadian Ragweed + cowboy boots + a Shiner = your idea of heaven.
Praise you-know-whom: Bandera has risen.
Named after the Texas town known as the “cowboy capital of the world,” the bar stakes an inner-city claim for Red Dirt bands like CCR and Stoney LaRue. The goal is to make the Lower Greenville outpost a pit stop between Austin and Stillwater, Oklahoma, where the folksy-bluesy-twangy rock set usually plays.
If you wanna hang from the rafters, they got ’em, along with rustic knotted pine walls and a patio fenced with pig wire. If you crave a bite, neighbors DiTerra’s and Greenville Avenue Pizza Company will happily deliver.
Down the road, Bandera’s owners (including ex-rodeo rider Tony West) will open the place during the day to serve cups of joe.
How divine.
Bandera, 1924 Greenville Avenue (214-823-8496).
