There’s nothing wrong with being cuckoo for cocoa puffs.
If you’re 7.
But it’s totally acceptable for grown-ups to get hooked on Kakáwa, a line of cocoa beans covered in rich, velvety chocolate.
The Austin-based family behind the company imports whole cocoa beans produced from rare Criollo and Trinitario trees mostly found in South American rain forests. They roast the freshly picked beans to perfection and dip them in three layers of creamy white, milk, and dark chocolate as well as cocoa powder produced from the same trees.
The sinfully decadent snacks come in pretty little twelve-ounce packages. At $28 a pop, they don’t come cheap.
But that won’t stop you from going crazy for them.
Available at Gardens, 3699 McKinney Avenue, suite 310 (214-528-7770); Central Market, 5750 Lovers Lane (214-234-7000). For more information, go to cocoapuro.com.
