Creede the Hungry

Creede Williams's "After the Letters" CD Debuts

creede williams!

The last time you supported a local musician, you bought the guitarist at Potbelly’s a turkey club.

Have no fare: Creede Williams is hear.

The local lawyer just released his second album, After the Letters, which draws inspiration from Van Morrison, James Taylor, and ’90s acts like R.E.M. and Counting Crows. The songs tout life’s pauses — the phase between a breakup and new romance, layoff and fresh gig — or what the self-taught artist jokingly calls “purgatory.”

The album was recorded in Nashville, and it brings the twang. But also smooth jazz and John Mayer-esque guitar jams.

Of special listen: “Skateland South,” a funny tune about young love — “all marshmallow white and bubblegum pink, her dreamsicle roller skates circle the rink … just might last until 7 or 8, if my mom watches Falcon Crest, sometimes she picks me up late.” Sound familiar?

It’s delicious.
