Sew Cool

CityCraft Fabric Boutique and Sewing Lounge Opens

citycraft!

“Arts and crafts” conjures up memories of popsicle-stick picture frames and the fugly furniture inside Aunt Barb’s double-wide.

Kick it up a notch at CityCraft, a new Inwood Village fabric boutique and sewing lounge owned by DIY queen/blogger Callie Works-Leary. The Dallas native turned the strip mall locale into a sanctuary for modern crafters with everything from stylish clothing patterns to bolts of fabric by hip designers like Anna Maria Horner and Amy Butler.

No prior experience is necessary to partake in most of the store’s sewing classes, which teach hobbyists how to make aprons, throw pillows, tote bags, and more. Private parties are also a big part of business — just pick out a customized group project and CityCraft will take care of the rest (even catering).

Sew beats those macaroni necklaces.
