Surround your birthday girl with hot pink, sequins, and a horde of giggling friends and she’ll forget she ever wanted a pony.
For a real dream come true, hoof it to The Glitter Girlz. Craft mavens and BFFs Jodie Deschler and Ellie Gallerini opened the Bucktown party space where groups of kids (ages 3-13) create blinged-out jewelry, clothing, beauty products, and home goods.
Think of it as Martha Stewart meets MTV. A disco ball spins while your little star and her pals learn age-appropriate skills, from cutting felt shapes to threading a sewing machine. When the craft is finished, a dance party breaks out and everyone gets her fingernails polished. No stress, Mom: Just sip coffee and chat with other parents in the comfy lounge.
The space also offers after-school workshops on beading, embellishing, bow-making, and other skills sure to put a sparkle in her eye.
The Glitter Girlz, 2320 North Damen Avenue, at Fullerton Avenue (773-698-8071 or theglittergirlz.com). Birthday parties, $30 per child; workshops, $176 for an eight-week session (next session begins September 7).
