Slowly but surely the city’s business hub is luring cool wine shops, sandwich joints, and the occasional art gallery. A handful of old buildings houses true urban dwellers, but folks mostly hit the neighborhood for work or to troll Deep Ellum’s resurging streets. If all else fails, there’s always Neiman Marcus’s original outpost shining bright on Main Street.

Fifty stories up, high above the downtown office buildings, sits Five Sixty by Wolfgang Puck, the famed chef’s first Dallas restaurant. As if the floor-to-ceiling windows and rotating, 360-degree view weren’t drama enough, the food is equally breathtaking. Start with pork belly dumplings; move on to seafood curry or crispy quail. We like fresh-from-the-oven cookies for dessert.

The trio behind the boutique travels to far ends of the earth (literally) for their hard-to-find fashion roundup. Maria Cornejo, Alexander Wang, Jane Mayle, Pauric Sweeney, and Archive Vintage are just a handful of labels that lure Dallas’s best dressed.

If only the walls could talk. The chain’s original location strictly edits collections, unlike other locales. Don’t miss the resto’s homemade popovers with strawberry butter and the yummy first-floor shoe salon with Main Street views.

Just what you’d expect from a coffee shop in affluent Victory Park: It’s urban, Zen, and a far cry from Starbucks. Check out the book boutique. Yes, we said book boutique. It’s that kind of place.
