Self-proclaimed music obsessive Jerry Bouthier is fast becoming fashion’s official music curator. He’s done Cream, Manumission, Velvet Underground and Boombox. Now he’s pumping out the tunes at LFW for the likes of Eley Kishimoto and Vivienne Westwood. After that, he’s off to Paris to play at Sonia Rykiel’s 40th birthday party and a soiree hosted by Colette.
We tuned in with the god — sorry, man — himself.
DC: What song always gets a crowd going?
JB: There are hundreds, but today I’d say Goldfrapp’s ‘Happiness’.
DC: What is the best party you’ve ever been to?
JB: The next one is always the one I’m looking forward to.
DC: What would you play as the soundtrack to your life?
JB: A mix of New Order, Phoenix, Mozart, Italo disco, CSS, Feist and Digitalism.
DC: How many songs do you have on your iPod?
JB: I don’t have an iPod; I’ve never had a Walkman either. I’m deaf enough already.
DC: Is there ever a good time to not play music?
JB: When sleeping. But actually even then it’s sometimes nice to doze off to melodies. It makes you dream differently.
We’re already doing that.
