Stay Tuned

ON THE DOWNLOAD

The kaleidoscope of colours at Nathan Jenden was enough to inspire positive thinking in even the most pessimistic. You’ll have to wait till next summer for his candy-coloured creations to hit the shelves, but in the meantime, check out the soundtrack from his show.

1. The Belle Stars – “The Clapping Song”
2. Le Surfs – “The Clapping Song” (this time, in French)
3. The Creatures – “Right Now”
4. Wham – “Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go”

That’s some serious frock ‘n’ roll.

Packham In

ON THE DOWNLOAD

Jenny Packham opened her frock-filled show with Noel Coward’s ‘I Went to a Marvellous Party’. This one goes out to debutantes, socialites and party animals everywhere.

Quite for no reason,
I’m here for the season,
And high as a kite,
Living in error,
With Maud at Cap Ferrat,
Which couldn’t be right.
Everyone’s here and frightfully gay,
Nobody cares what people say,
Though the Riviera,
Seems really much queerer,
Than Rome at its height.

I went to a marvellous party,
With Nounou and Nada and Nell,
It was in the fresh air,
And we went as we were,
And we stayed as we were,
Which was hell.
Poor Grace started singing at midnight,
And didn’t stop singing till 4,
We knew the excitement was bound to begin,
When Laura got blind on Dubonnet and gin,
And scratched her veneer with a Cartier pin,
I couldn’t have liked it more.

Name That Tune

ON THE DOWNLOAD

It wasn’t long ago that we sat in the bright and airy Phillips de Pury auction house watching some notably thin models (note to designer: too thin) parade around in Temperley London’s enchanting spring collection (fuchsia frills, metal studs on everything, stretch white leather pants) to the beat of a soundtrack that instantly transported us to Ibiza, via London, Paris and Berlin.

The show (and those heady nights at Amnesia) might be over, but here we bring you the playlist:
1. Bumcello – “Let It Shine”
2. Bajofondo Tango Club – “Pa Baillar”
3. Hot Chip – “Hold On”
4. Ofra Haza – “Slave Dreams”
5. Donna Summer – “I Feel”
6. Bumcello – “Jet Set”
7. CSS - “Let’s Make Love and Listen to Death from Above”
8. Jocelyn Pook – “Dionysus”

Fact: It's So Hard to Say Goodbye

ON THE DOWNLOAD

As the Dossier comes to an official close, we realize that sometimes the so long, farewell, auf wiedersehen rigamarole just doesn't quite cut it. Here are a few songs that convey our sentiments, exactly, or rather, approximately.

  • "Kiss and Say Goodbye," by The Manhattans
  • "Bye Bye Black Sheep," by Martin Sexton
  • "Goodnight Goodnight," by Hot Hot Heat
  • "Hallelujah," by Jeff Buckley
  • "Good Night," by The Beatles
  • "Over and Done With," by The Proclaimers

Looks Like a Pump Feels Like a ... Nevermind

ON THE DOWNLOAD

Can we get you anything? Coffee? Tea? The Whitley Kros fall collection? Designers Marisa Ribisi and Sophia Coloma pictured the fashion plate figment of their imagination hitting a rock concert in Berlin and riding the train to Paris for a business meeting (picture Working Girl Tess McGill dressed in cranking Nirvana on her Walkman).

Noneother than Beck could have made a soundtrack to match. Listen in.

Last Night Three DJs Saved Our Lives

ON THE DOWNLOAD

It's official: DailyCandy launched the L.A. Fashion Week Dossier last night at The Hall at Palihouse. Guests snacked on sliders and sipped St-Germain cocktails, Bandit wines, and frosty Peroni beers all to the tunes of Small Town Talk. The trio manned the decks for a night of American rock with French, folk twists. Here's a few choice selections from the evening below, and you can check the rest of their stellar playlist at myspace.com/smalltowntalk.

Staerk Raving Mad - Camilla Gets Lyrical

ON THE DOWNLOAD

We're pretty darn excited about Camilla Staerk's fashion presentation, Bride of the Black Moon (mysterious, right?) — the fall 2008 collection from her new (and, now, only) label, Staerk. She let us in on the music that got her motivated (to be played as her soundtrack at this evening's Gen Art show).

Alice Ritter's Frock Stars

ON THE DOWNLOAD

We adore watching rhythm-deficient editors (ooh, dis!) and semisocials bebop in their front-row seats. On the Download is your fast track to what everyone is chair dancing to during Fashion Week.

Prep your iPods and download the tracks that tore up Alice Ritter's presentation (thankfully, Peter Bjorn and John weren't invited this season).

Her models were rock stars and vice versa (with front women and band members from Au Revoir Simone to Ex Reverie). To wit, our playlist of the day:
