Christopher Garbushian, co-designer of hand-sewn headpiece label I Love Factory and generally tops guy, acted as our intrepid reporter for the Alice in Wonderland scavenger hunt (arranged by New York’s millinery elite). Notes below.
First stop: Ellen Christine Millinery, where stands displayed the most elegant and chic hats I have ever seen! The live entertainment provided by Tziporah Salamon was delightful. Best of all, I got to borrow a custom hat made from vintage 1940s straw that I am now totally lusting after!
Next stop: The Hat Shop. Champagne was flowing and hats galore lined the walls. Everything from boaters to beehives! We couldn’t stop ourselves. Between Laurel and me, we may have tried on every hat. Which made locating a tiny tea bag (the prized clue!) in a very crowded shop a total breeze!
Last stop: Lisa Shaub Fine Millinery. Lisa was so welcoming! With a quick look around the store, Laurel spotted the white rabbit. Score for The Factory! After the hard work, we spent the night trying on whimsical hats and talking about Lisa’s lovely daughter, Lola.
