Your granny told you good girls should know how to sew. (You told her good grannies should give better gifts, but that’s a different story.)
If she wanted to get you excited about pattern cutting, all Nana had to do was mention Sew Over It, the new fashion sewing studio and cafe opening tomorrow in Clapham.
Founder Lisa Comfort, who trained under Bruce Oldfield, uses her passion for needlework along with her experience in the fashion industry to teach people to stitch items they’ll actually wear or use. Forget pin cushions: try your hand at leggings, a bow blouse, vintage fabric necklace, leather clutch or custom cardigan.
Already know how to embroider? Head to the upstairs cafe, book a one-on-one class or just sew in good company (with expert advice and tea and homemade cakes).
Sew far, sew good.
Sew Over It, 74 Landor Road, SW9 9PH (020 7326 0376 or sewoverit.co.uk).
