Art imitates life.

The Talent Show
An all-star exhibit (curated by Peter Eleey of the Walker Art Center) explores the twin desires for notoriety and privacy in an age of tell-all Facebook, reality TV, and government surveillance.
Why: Artists — including Sophie Calle, Andy Warhol, and Graciela Carnevale — explore the conflicts inherent in putting both willing and unwilling participants on view.
When: Thru Aug. 21. Open house, Fri., 6-10 p.m. Curator talk, Sat., 2-3:30 p.m.
Where: Henry Art Gallery, University of Washington, 15th Ave. NE, at N. 41st St. (206-543-2280). Admission is $8-$12 for the open house, $5 for the curator talk, and free-$10 for the gallery.

Rachel’s Ginger Beer Launches Retail Sales
The locally brewed beverage ($3 per bottle), previously available only at restaurants like La Bête and Lark, gets a retail stand at Capitol Hill’s Broadway Sunday Farmers Market on inaugural day.
Why: A sophisticated flavor with a sharp bite, gentle bubble, and not too much honest-to-goodness sugar.
When: Thru Dec. 18. Every Sun., 11 a.m.-3 p.m.
Where: Seattle Central Community College, Broadway, at Pine St.

March to the Center of the Earth: Community Night Out
An open house with a chance to see Chicago artist Nick Cave’s Soundsuits — those outlandish, furry ones worn by Spectrum Dance Theater performers.
Why: The colorful outfits are meant to be seen in motion. With a parade, performances by DJ Riz, and a photo booth sponsored by Youth in Focus.
When: Tonight. Costumed parade, 5:30 p.m.; exhibit tour, 7 p.m.; dance performance, 8 p.m.
Where: Seattle Art Museum, 1300 First Ave. (206-654-3100). All events are free.

Pacino: One Night Only
What: The revered actor, best known for his dark character roles, puts on an intimate one-man show.
Why: Hear him talk about his creative process as an actor and director in a live theatrical performance.
When: June 11. Sat., 8 p.m.
Where: The Paramount Theatre, 911 Pine St. Tickets ($65-$150) at 877-784-4849 or online at stgpresents.org.
