Being in Kentucky for the races is pretty sweet, but a slice of Los Angeles Athletic Club’s bourbon pecan pie, which will be served at its first Hold Your Horses Kentucky Derby viewing party, is even sweeter.
Los Angeles Athletic Club Bourbon Pecan Pie
Makes one pie
1 c. sugar
3 tbsp. butter, melted
½ c. light corn syrup
4 lg. eggs, beaten
2 c. pecan halves and pieces
6 oz. dark chocolate chips
4 tbsp. bourbon
1 9-inch, deep-dish pie shell, unbaked (homemade or store bought, your call)
1. Preheat oven to 375°.
2. In a medium bowl, stir together sugar and butter.
3. Add syrup, eggs, pecans, chocolate, and bourbon; stir until combined.
4. Pour mixture into pie shell, and then place it onto a heavy-duty cookie sheet. Bake for 10 minutes. Lower the oven temperature to 350° and continue to bake for an additional 25 minutes or until pie is set.
5. Remove from oven and cool.
