You and the gym haven’t been on speaking terms lately. Can’t blame you: After wrangling several pounds of baby around town, who’d want to lift a barbell?
Instead, let Escape 2 Fitness’s Hot Mamas classes give new weight to your exercise routine. The outdoor sessions make fitness fun for you and baby, because each guided move involves you both. Gather at a neighborhood park to cycle through stretches, cardio, and core work — all with babe in arms (or in a stroller or carrier at times for safety).
Exercises are designed for bonding. Giggles might erupt as you squat and shoulder-press baby, do moving planks in front of him, or attempt lunges a deux.
The regimen is as quitter proof as they come; stopping doesn’t seem like an option when there’s a wide-eyed bundle watching your every move. Talk about raising the bar.
Hot Mamas classes are being held through September, at Oz Park, 2021 North Burling Street; Erie Park, 630 North Kingsbury Street; Wicker Park, 1425 North Damen Avenue. For more information and to register, call 312-222-1414 or go to escape2fitness.com. Single classes are $18; a ten-class pass is $150; monthly membership is $200.
