You run a hands-off operation. As in, “Get your hands off your sister. Now!”
If idle hands are the devil’s tools, redirect your little angels with Built by Kids, a new website packed with family-friendly DIY ideas. Launched by Timothy and Laura Dahl — he’s a vet of This Old House and Elle Decor; she’s a fashion designer and creative director — the projects are more substantial than your standard cut, paste, and glitter.
From building easy cardboard castles to creating a play kitchen, the focus is on teaching kids real DIY skills (using a level, driving a nail), not just passing time until dinner. Contributors include an imaginative network of friends and family (such as Christiane Lemieux, founder of DwellStudio).
Projects are categorized by age and skill level, so you can determine which ones they can do on their own and which ones require a helping hand.
