In these recessionary times, we all want something rich.

Find it at Burger & Lobster in Mayfair.

Located in an old Irish pub, the new restaurant from the Russian owners of Goodman steak house opened quietly over the weekend.

There’s no menu: simply choose between the eponymous mains, each of which comes with salad and French fries. Expect Goodman-quality beef ground on-site daily and sandwiched between freshly baked brioche buns. Lobsters arrive from Canada and live in a tank downstairs until they are steamed, grilled and served whole with lemon and garlic butter. (There is also a lobster roll option.) Finish with lime or chocolate mousse and wash it down with wine or fresh cocktails by Soul Shakers.

The joint doesn’t take reservations, but someone can ring you at a nearby pub when your table is ready. Oh, and both options are a reasonable £20.
