Tired of winter giving you the cold shoulder?
Heat things up at Urban Union, opening today on Taylor Street.
In the open-air kitchen, executive chef Michael Shrader (N9ne, Epic) creates European-inspired dishes with the help of a wood-burning oven.
The menu covers a lot of ground, but it’s neatly divided into seafood (head-on shrimp, fried squid), meats and such (crispy pork schnitzel, roasted porchetta), pasta and dumplings (braised pork cheek ravioli), and vegetables and friends (baked apples, buttered mashed parsnips).
Sidle up to the raw bar for oysters and a glass from the restaurant’s novel-size global wine list (150 vintages, 30 by-the-glass, six on tap, and various pour options).
Though most everything at Urban Union is on fire, there’s a very cool price range ($4-$13).
So it won’t burn a hole in your pocket.
