Local's Corner Opens in the Mission

Euro cafe, sustainable raw bar, and seafood

local's corner!

If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. But if it’s a seedy liquor store below your bedroom window, that shiz has gots to go.

Yaron Milgrom (aforementioned neighbor) and chef Jake Des Voignes (Local Mission Eatery) take matters into their own hands to expand their Mission empire with Local’s Corner, opening tomorrow.

Burgundy wainscoting, damask wallpaper, an antique-turned-host station, and chocolate tiled ceiling revive the 110-year-old building’s vintage charm. Settle in beneath nearly floor-to-ceiling windows for a sunny meal at the front table.

What’s not changing? The duo’s focus on exclusively local, sustainable ingredients and house-made everything, though the spotlight here is seafood. The Euro cafe by day, serving breakfast, lunch, and prix fixe brunch, turns raw bar/fish house by nightfall (starting April 17). Enjoy oysters, pâté, cheese, wine, and beer from 2 to 5 p.m.; for dinner, Des Voignes dives in with head-to-tail fish preparations (smoked sturgeon with creme fraiche, pickled cauliflower; black cod with leeks, carrots, and sousbise).

Welcome to the neighborhood.
