After years of suffering parched pasta and dry (bread) spells, we’ve finally struck oil.
Deep inside Sapore Oil & Vinegar, D.C.’s first tasting room for the slick stuff, die-hard drizzlers can spear nubs of bread with toothpicks to sample the liquid gold. (Don’t skip Engine 18, the cold-smoked oil named for the local fire station, or the fruity Ripe Tomato flavor from Tuscany.)
Owner Renee Farr stocks only her favorites from California, Spain, and Italy: eighteen premium flavored olive oils and at least a dozen vinegars. Exotic salts, artisan pasta, cookbooks, and spices also pepper the property.
Stake your claim on the chocolate or blackberry balsamic. Lost your way? With one peek into your farmers market bag (the Eastern Market is just two minutes away), Farr recommends pairings like a dressing sommelier.
You’re gonna be rich.
