We once believed in a solar deity. (Bring on the baby oil.)
But several years, problematic moles, and wrinkles later, we worship the goddess of sunblock.
Take cover with Parasol, a new collection of sun-protective wear for women and girls, co-launched by former Vogue style director and current Town & Country creative director Alexandra Kotur and Tiffany Moller. The spendy line was conceived after they noticed a void in the market — we’re talking about you, T-shirt dresses with sequin flip-flops appliques.
The preppy styles include Nantucket-ready sailor stripes, color blocking, playful polka dots, and delicate flowers. For girls, choose from long-sleeve and short-sleeve tops in combination with board shorts, swim skirts, and leggings; grown-up gals get long-sleeve and short-sleeve swim shirts, full-length sarongs, short swim skirts, and ruched swim dresses.
The Italian Lycra from which the clothes are fashioned has a UPF 50+ rating, which means it absorbs 98 percent of UV rays.
Looks like the sun just got burned.
Available online at parasolsun.com, $85-$275.
